Project Overview
Hi-Tec modernized the drive system on a Gernetti circular saw machine at Jubail Energy Services Company.
Challenge / Project Requirement
The machine used legacy Siemens SIMODRIVE 611U drives that were selected for modernization.
Solution and Technical Scope
The project replaced the legacy drives with Siemens SINAMICS S120 common DC bus drives and an Active Line Module. The system used a position-control application and was integrated with a Siemens S7-300 PLC. The documented motor applications were blade feeder/advancement and blade rotation.
Project Outcome
The project reference reports improved line efficiency, minimized downtime and improved long-term spare-parts and technical-support availability as benefits of the upgrade. No numerical efficiency or uptime data was included.
