Project Overview
Hi-Tec modernized the drive system on Universal Metal Coating Company's push-pull pickling line, replacing legacy Siemens Masterdrives VC equipment.
Challenge / Project Requirement
The line used older Masterdrives VC units. The project aimed to modernize the drive platform and address long-term maintenance and support concerns.
Solution and Technical Scope
A total of 35 Masterdrives VC units were upgraded to Siemens SINAMICS S120 common DC bus drives with Active Line Modules (ALM), integrated with a Siemens S7-300 PLC and Wonderware InTouch SCADA. The project reference describes regenerative braking, energy sharing on a common DC bus, power-factor and harmonic performance characteristics of the selected architecture.
Project Outcome
The project reference reports improved line efficiency, minimized downtime and improved long-term spare-parts and technical-support availability. Any specific site-level energy savings or power-quality measurements should be published only if confirmed by project records.
