Hi-Tec upgraded the drive system serving the chemical coater on Universal Metal Coating Company's continuous galvanizing line (CGL).

The chemical coater application relied on legacy Siemens Masterdrives VC equipment selected for modernization.
Solution and Technical Scope
The project replaced four Masterdrives VC units with Siemens SINAMICS S120 common DC bus drives with an Active Line Module. The new drives were integrated with a Siemens S7-400 PLC.
Project Outcome
The project reference states that the drive modernization was intended to improve line efficiency, minimize downtime and support long-term parts and technical support availability. No measured results specific to this CGL application were supplied.
